Introducing VCola ICM: Incentive Compensation Built to Your Exact Plan

Every comp plan has at least one rule the ICM can't handle. It ends up in a spreadsheet only one person understands, or in a ticket queue for a quarter, while reps sell without knowing what they'll be paid.

Today, we are formally introducing VCola ICM: incentive compensation management that's ready out of the box and built to your exact plan. You describe your plan in plain language, from accelerators and splits to clawbacks and consumption, and VCola ICM pays exactly that. When the plan changes, the application changes with it. Why We Built It

We didn't set out to build an ICM. We built one because sales ops leaders, comp teams and reps kept telling us the same story. Plans take months to load, so reps sell before their commission rules are in the system. Reps keep their own spreadsheets because they don't trust that they'll be paid correctly, and when they dispute a number, the comp team spends hours backtracking through plans, CRM data and spreadsheets. Meanwhile, every hour a rep spends monitoring their pay is an hour they're not selling.

The cause was the same every time: incumbent ICMs hit a ceiling on configuration. Your plan has to fit a fixed product, and each change costs time and money. Vendors keep making configuration more flexible, but the product underneath limits what is possible.

It's a limit our founders know well. They built the last generation of enterprise software, so they know the trade-off every SaaS vendor has to make: one product for every customer, configured only as far as it can go. VCola ICM is generated from your plan description instead, so a new rule is a change you write and approve, not a request to a vendor.

Built Around Your Plans

On day one, you have a working ICM: participants and deals, plans with quotas and tiers, crediting, calculations, approvals and adjustments, statements, disputes, and connections to your CRM and payroll. You don't need consultants to translate your plan into a vendor's setup first.

Then you shape it to your plan. Say leadership announces a SPIF on a new product halfway through the quarter. You write the new rule as a sentence. VCola shows you which reps, deals and payouts it affects, and once you approve it, crediting, calculations and the rep view update together.

What's in VCola ICM

Agentic Out of the Box

VCola ICM comes with agents built from the same specification that built your application, so they know your rules. Reps ask how a number was calculated and what it takes to make quota, and get answers from the rules their payouts ran on. Disputes reach your comp team already investigated, with the deal, the rule and the evidence attached, and a person makes the final call.

Trace Every Payout to Its Rule

The same plan description always produces the same results, so you can re-run any period and get the same answer to the cent. Each payout links back to the exact rule that produced it. When a rep wants to know why a deal paid 6%, the agent shows them the breakdown and the rule behind it.

Verified Before Anything Runs

Before a plan goes live, VCola checks every payout path against your caps, floors and clawback windows, so errors surface before they reach a statement. Finance gets an immutable audit trail and segregation of duties for ASC 606 and SOX reviews, and approved payouts go straight to payroll.

Comp Data Stays Locked Down

Comp data is some of the most sensitive data a company holds. Managers see their own team's payouts, reps see their own pay, and nobody sees more than their role allows. The platform enforces those permissions, so they hold every time the plan changes.

Send Us One Rule Your ICM Can't Handle

Here's the rule we hear about most right now. Companies selling AI products sign customers to a commitment, then bill them for what they use, so the comp plan has to pay on both:

"Pay half the commission on the committed contract value at signing. Pay the rest quarterly on consumed revenue as the customer ramps, and cap consumption payouts at 150% of the commitment."

Most ICMs were built to pay on bookings, so the usage half of a plan like this gets tracked by hand in a spreadsheet. In VCola ICM, you write the rule, it runs, and every payout traces back to it. We added a rule like this to our own demo's plan description and had it running within a few hours.

What's yours? Send us the rule your current system can't handle, and we'll send back a video of it running in VCola within three business days. You won't have to sit through a deck or a discovery call first.

You can anonymize the rule before you send it. Swap in made-up names, products and figures; we only need the logic to build it.
